What is spray wax and why does it work?
A spray wax is a liquid wax formula in spray form that applies a protective polymer or carnauba wax coating to the paintwork. Unlike a traditional paste wax, where you have to leave the wax to set and then buff it in circles, a spray wax works immediately. You spray, spread and buff. The result is comparable in terms of shine, but the application time is a fraction of that of the traditional process.

Step by step: how to apply Purus Spray Wax correctly
The order is more important here than most people realise. Skip step one and you risk dragging in dirt, no matter how well you apply the wax afterwards.
- Make sure the car is washed and completely dry. Preferably use Purus Super Wash to ensure a clean surface free of residue. Work in the shade or in a cool garage; never in direct sunlight on a hot surface.
- Lightly spray the Purus Spray Wax onto one panel at a time. Hold the bottle about 20–25 cm away. Three or four short sprays per panel are enough.
- Apply the product using a clean, soft microfibre cloth in straight, overlapping strokes. Side-to-side circular movements can cause minute swirl marks on finer lacquers.
- Wipe the panel straight away with the dry side of the cloth for a streak-free, deep shine. Don’t wait: don’t let the wax set before you buff.
- Repeat panel by panel until the entire bodywork has been treated. Change the microfibre cloth regularly to ensure it remains clean.
Safety warning: Avoid contact with the eyes. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse immediately with water. Keep out of the reach of children. Do not use on hot surfaces (above 40°C). Test on an inconspicuous area first before applying to glass, rubber or plastic trim.
Myth vs. fact: what’s really true about spray wax?
Myth: Spray wax does not provide as good protection as paste wax.

A white film or residue after buffering: This almost always means that too much product has been applied. Use a clean, slightly damp microfibre cloth to remove the residue, and then use less product per panel.
Uneven shine or streaks: Check that the paintwork temperature isn’t too high. Above 30–35°C, the wax will dry too quickly for you to buff it. Move your car into the shade or wait until the evening.
The product does not shine after application: The underlying paintwork probably still contains silicone residues from a previous product. Wash the car thoroughly again with Purus Super Wash and restore the paintwork with a clay bar treatment before reapplying the Purus Spray Wax.

Can I apply Purus Spray Wax in direct sunlight?
We would advise against this. On a hot paint surface – warmer than around 35°C – the spray wax dries too quickly and will almost certainly leave streaks or a white haze that is difficult to remove. It is best to work in the shade, in a garage, or early in the morning.
